Manchester United's 18-year-old striker Chido Obi is reportedly close to being loaned out to Willem II, according to The Athletic and Voetbal International. The Tilburg-based club is said to be in talks with the English giants over a straight loan deal for the highly-touted youngster. With the attacking department at Manchester United already crowded, Obi has limited prospects of breaking into the first team. The 18-year-old has already made a name for himself in England, having joined Manchester United's academy two years after leaving Arsenal's youth setup.
Obi has been impressive in his eight appearances for Manchester United's reserves, accumulating 212 minutes of playing time. He has also been instrumental in the Under 21 team, scoring 19 goals and providing 7 assists in 40 matches. Willem II, who have experience in loaning out talented strikers, may be the perfect destination for Obi to gain more experience at the highest level. The club had previously loaned out Alexander Isak, now a Liverpool player, for half a year in 2019.
