The match is part of the opening ceremony for the Raila Odinga International Stadium in Nairobi, which will host the 2027 Africa Cup. The stadium has a capacity of 60,000 spectators and was built specifically for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenia, Uganda, and Tanzania. Ajax and Bayern München will be the first teams to play at the stadium.
The exhibition match is scheduled to take place during the winter break, when both Ajax and Bayern München will be on holiday. For Ajax, it will be their last test before the second half of the season, which resumes on 9 January with a visit to Tilburg to face Willem II in the Eredivisie.
