Kraaijeveld played in the heart of Feyenoord's defence against Inter, forming a duo with Mika Mármol. According to Voetbal International, the 19-year-old described his debut as a "jongensdroom" (boy's dream), having watched the Champions League from a young age. Kraaijeveld's direct opponent was Thuram, a 29-year-old established name in European football.
Kraaijeveld reportedly believed he could hold his own against Thuram, saying "Ik kan ook wel aardig een duelletje aangaan" (I can have a decent duel). He also thought the duels between them were "goede duels" (good duels). Kraaijeveld's focus was on trying to eliminate Thuram one-on-one.
The young player acknowledged that Inter's high level of play made it difficult for Feyenoord to adapt, but he is already looking forward to his next Champions League appearance.
