The supporters of Antwerp were informed on Friday that they were not welcome in Luik, which led to widespread anger among the fans. The decision was made despite the fact that tickets had already been purchased and twenty bus trips had been arranged. Supporters group Antwerp Dynamite strongly reacted to the decision, calling it "ridiculous".
The fans refused to accept the decision and announced that they would still travel to Luik. They also called on other supporters to do the same. Criticism of the decision came not only from the Antwerp supporters, but also from the Standard supporters.
In an unexpected turn of events, supporters from both clubs worked together to reverse the decision. Antwerp Dynamite stated that they were in contact with Ultras Inferno 96, who were fully behind them and helped to put pressure on the authorities to allow the Antwerp supporters into the away stand.
The decision was eventually reversed just a few hours before the match, allowing the Antwerp supporters to sit in the away stand.
