The KelderLeague is an example of such a separate competition. It was established to make football enjoyable and accessible again. A team from VFC in Vlaardingen wanted to stop playing football because they had no more sense in 'fighting every Sunday'. The league's chairman, Wolter van de Graaf, searched for alternatives and asked the players which clubs they would like to play against. Only those teams received an invitation to join the competition. If things did not go well in the league, the teams would decide among themselves that it was not acceptable and would be removed. They had no further connection with the KNVB and had their own disciplinary system.
