Ajax assistant coach Hedwiges Maduro has been involved in the transfer of Carlos Forbs, who was signed by the Amsterdam club in the summer of 2023 for a reported 14 million euros from Manchester City. Maduro was working as an assistant coach at Ajax at the time and had seen Forbs play daily. Forbs showed quality in Manchester City's youth, which was a key factor in Ajax signing him. Maduro believes that Forbs was not suited to the Eredivisie, suggesting that his strengths were not utilised in the Dutch league.
