Manchester United are looking to bring in a new midfielder to replace captain Bruno Fernandes, who has had a public falling out with manager Michael Carrick. The 32-year-old captain's future at the club is uncertain, and the Red Devils are reportedly considering Barcelona midfielder Fermín López as an option. López, 23, has had a good start to the season with five goals and four assists, and is considered an alternative to Atletico Madrid's Pablo Barrios. Barcelona would want around €80 million to let López go, with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea also interested.
Manchester United are also looking to bolster their defense in January, with interest in Fulham's Calvin Bassey, according to TEAMtalk. Bassey, 26, has been in good form this season and was made Fulham captain. United will also be targeting a new left back and striker, after injuries to Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu and Benjamin Sesko.
The club's transfer plans are still unclear, but it is evident that they are looking to make significant changes to their squad in the January window.
