Mykhailo Mudryk has become the first player to move between Tottenham and Chelsea since Carlo Cudicini swapped Stamford Bridge for White Hart Lane in 2009. The 25-year-old has been followed through the door at Spurs by his former Chelsea teammate Tosin Adarabioyo after Spurs agreed a fee of around £7 million for the defender. Mudryk and Tosin are Spurs' ninth and 10th signings of a window in which they have spent close to £400m on the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Sávio.
Mudryk's move comes after Tottenham tried to sign Everton's Iliman Ndiaye and Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, with the former joining Manchester City instead and the latter looking likely to stay at Anfield. Mudryk, who signed for Chelsea for £85 million ($115m) in January 2023, previously played under Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi while at his former club, Shakhtar Donetsk. De Zerbi has expressed his excitement about working with Mudryk again, saying he has the quality to change a game with his speed and ability in one-vs-one situations.
Tosin Adarabioyo is viewed as a replacement for Kevin Danso who has joined Sunderland. The 25-year-old has spent two years at Chelsea after joining on a free transfer from Fulham. He has expressed his desire to achieve the absolute best and push the team to where they deserve to be.
