In an interview with Sport 890, the midfielder explained that he desired a transfer to the United States due to these issues. Rodríguez stated that he had problems with the team's style of play after a new coach was appointed, which led to him losing his starting spot.
The midfielder made 58 appearances for Botafogo, scoring five goals and contributing with six assists. Rodríguez arrived in Botafogo in February 2025 for R$ 85 million. The transfer to Columbus Crew was reportedly worth US$ 6.8 million, with the agreement between Botafogo and Columbus Crew to abate the value from the debt of US$ 38.5 million.
