The Italian police have sanctioned 16 supporters of AS Rome with stadium bans. The bans range from one to five years and apply to both domestic and international matches, including those of the Italian national team. Four of the supporters will also be required to report to the police station during AS Rome matches. The Italian police have also stated that the bans apply to matches of the AS Rome played abroad as well as to the Italian national team matches. This incident highlights the prevalence of far-right sympathies among Italian football ultras, a phenomenon not unique to AS Rome. The manifestations of sympathies of extreme right are not rare in Italian football within groups of supporters "ultras".
