Al Ittihad has strengthened its squad on Saudi Arabia's Deadline Day with the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum. The experienced midfielder has signed a one-year contract with the club. Wijnaldum was without a club since July 1, after his contract with Al Ettifaq expired. He played 101 games for Al Ettifaq, scoring 38 goals and providing 17 assists.

Wijnaldum's signing is a significant boost for Al Ittihad, who finished last season in fifth place in the Saudi Pro League, two places above Al Ettifaq. The club will face Al-Fayha on Tuesday, but it is likely that Wijnaldum will not be available for the match, as he last played on May 21.
