The medical checkup and the last formalities are the only things that separate Obi from a temporary transfer to the Eredivisie. Voetbal International reports that Willem II hopes to take over Obi from Manchester United, with the talks already in an advanced stage. The Tilburgers have continued to pursue the deal, with Obi set to join the Eredivisie side on a temporary basis.
Obi will face competition from Devin Haen, a Danish youth international who made his debut in the Premier League in the 2024/25 season and became the youngest ever Manchester United player in the English competition at 17 years and 156 days.
If the deal is completed on time, Willem II will welcome its third new signing in two days, following the arrivals of Vito van Crooij and goalkeeper Maxime Delanghe earlier this week.
