Ruan Tressoldi, a defender for Atlético-MG, did not shake hands with Kaio Jorge, an attacker for Cruzeiro, during the pre-match ceremony. The Atlético-MG player passed by Kaio Jorge in the line of greetings. Globo Esporte Futebol reports that Kaio Jorge continued with his arm raised, but Ruan Tressoldi went straight past him.

The incident occurred in the defensive area of the Galo, near the sideline. Ruan Tressoldi arrived first in the dispute, took the ball with his head, but received a push from Kaio Jorge when he was already in the air. In the fall, the Atlético-MG defender fell awkwardly and hit his head on the grass. He tried to stay in the game, but minutes later, he fell again and had to be substituted. Ruan Tressoldi left the Mineirão in an ambulance and was taken to a hospital.

Ruan Tressoldi was later critical of Kaio Jorge, blaming him for the incident that led to his fall. Globo Esporte Futebol reports that Kaio Jorge was at risk of being left out of the game, but was only given a warning by the STJD.
