According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma have spent €211m since Gian Piero Gasperini was appointed in the summer of 2025. This figure is confirmed by Football Italia. In contrast, Inter have invested €186m in new signings since Cristian Chivu took over. The figures, which include only fixed transfer fees and exclude potential add-ons, highlight the significant investment made by both clubs in recent years. Both Gasperini and Chivu have started their second season at their respective clubs, with Roma and Inter being the only Serie A clubs to have won all four of their opening league games this season. Inter won the domestic double in 2025-26, during Cristian Chivu's first season with the Nerazzurri. Roma finished third and qualified for the Champions League for the first time since 2017-18. The two teams will meet at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Saturday in the big match of Serie A Round 5.
