Roma's coach Gian Piero Gasperini and sporting director Tony D'Amico strongly oppose the French midfielder's departure. Chelsea had made an opening offer worth €60m for Koné and were also ready to send Jamie Gittens on loan to the Olimpico. The opposition from Gasperini and D'Amico has pushed the club owners to put talks with Chelsea on hold.

The summer transfer window for Premier League clubs is set to close at midnight CET, while Serie A clubs have time until 20:00 CET to buy new players. Chelsea agreed to sell Enzo Fernández to Manchester City, but it remains to be seen whether they will make a new offer for Koné.
