Essiën Bassey has officially left PSV to join Viking FK in Norway. The 19-year-old wing-back had been allowed to leave Eindhoven and has now found his desired transfer. In Norway, he has a chance to play in the Champions League. Bassey played just one match for PSV's first team. He has signed a contract with Viking FK until 2030 and may soon face his old club in the Champions League. Viking FK will play PSV on 20 January 2027. PSV's technical manager, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, has thanked Bassey for his contribution to the club, saying: "We want to thank Essiën for his commitment and contribution to PSV. During his time at the club, he developed into an excellent player. With his move to Viking FK, he is now taking a great step in his career, at a club that is active at the highest level." Bassey himself is grateful for the opportunity he had at PSV, saying: "At first, I had to get used to it, but eventually, it started to go well. When I joined Jong PSV, I developed quickly. I am grateful for this period. Now, I am starting a new chapter where I want to develop further and make many minutes in the Champions League."
