PSV Eindhoven is gearing up for a new season in the Champions League, with their first match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday. Ivan Perisic, a key player for the Eindhoven-based club, has expressed his optimism ahead of the match, stating that it's time for PSV to take an extra step in the competition. Perisic praised the team's spirit, particularly after the incident between teammates Ruben van Bommel and Aaron Bouwman, which he described as a normal duel. "For me, it felt like a normal game, they both went for the ball," Perisic said. "Van Bommel was a bit late, but it didn't matter much. He felt very guilty afterwards." Perisic also commended the team's unity, saying that they finally showed what it means to be a team. Trainer Peter Bosz, however, dismissed the incident as "lachwekkend" and "belachelijk", but chose not to elaborate further. Perisic's comments come despite the departure of key players like Ismail Saibari and Joey Veerman to top German clubs Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund. Despite the losses, Perisic believes that the team has good new players returning, who will be eager to make their mark in the Champions League. The match against Shakhtar Donetsk will be a crucial test for PSV, who will be without several key players, including Mauro Júnior, who is suspended, and Dennis Man, Sami Ouaissa, Alassane Pléa, who are all injured.
