Piero Ausilio has left Inter after a 28-year association, the club has confirmed. According to Football Italia, Ausilio joined Inter as a secretary in the youth department in the late 1990s before working his way up to the role of first-team sporting director by 2014, a role he has held ever since. Ausilio's departure comes the day after the close of the 2026 summer transfer window, which saw Inter recruit three England internationals.
Inter have named Dario Baccin, Ausilio's former deputy, as the club's new chief sports officer. Baccin has been a fundamental part of the technical area for many years and is now ready to take on this new role, according to Nerazzurri President Beppe Marotta. "Dario knows the club well and is now ready to take on this new role that the ownership and I have designed for him," Marotta commented.
Ausilio's departure marks the end of an era at Inter, with the club's President Beppe Marotta paying tribute to the outgoing sporting director. "I would like to thank Piero on behalf of the entire Club, the ownership and every single employee in the great Nerazzurri family," Marotta said.
