PSV-trainer Peter Bosz has praised his defender Lutsharel Geertruida, describing him as a crucial part of PSV's playing style. According to former Oranje international and football coach Hedwiges Maduro, Geertruida is an extremely interesting profile for PSV's playing style and Bosz's football philosophy. Maduro notes a clear difference between Geertruida and a younger player like Ryan Flamingo. "It's all about recognising and coaching risks," Maduro says. "He knows: if my teammate is in trouble on the right-back position, I'll have a problem afterwards. Talents need to develop this entirely. They are more focused on themselves within the lines."
Maduro also highlights Geertruida's exceptional ability to read the game, stating that not many defenders possess this skill. "He is a fast thinker: within one minute, he reads how the opponent is putting pressure on him and where he needs to be free to be effective," Maduro explains. "Not many defenders have that. When should I cover? When should I take the space?"
Bosz's praise for Geertruida comes as no surprise, given the significant investment PSV made to sign him. According to reports, PSV paid a reported six million euros in rental fees, with an option to buy him for 20 million euros. Maduro believes it will take time for PSV to settle with their new players, saying, "Feyenoord has already sorted out their puzzle, and I'm convinced PSV will too. It looks easy, replacing player by player, but it simply takes time."
