The NOS has secured a new deal to retain the broadcasting rights for the Eredivisie, a move that will see the public broadcaster continue to provide summaries of the Dutch top-flight league for the next five years. VoetbalPrimeur reports that the new agreement will give the NOS more possibilities to broadcast highlights and summaries online and via social media. This includes the option to show summaries from the first division and the Eredivisie for women.
The NOS will continue to broadcast summaries on Sunday evenings, with the familiar 'bord-op-schootmoment' on NPO 1 remaining in place. However, the new deal will also allow the broadcaster to reach a wider audience, including those who follow the Eredivisie through other channels, such as the NPO Start app and social media. The NOS will also continue to provide live radio coverage of the Eredivisie through its 'NOS Langs de Lijn' programme.
The contract has been extended to the 2031/2032 season, with the NOS expressing its delight at the agreement. According to Xander van der Wulp, the NOS's wordvoerder and hoofdredacteur, the summaries of the Eredivisie are an integral part of the public broadcaster's programming, and it is essential that Dutch football remains accessible to everyone, even in times of financial scrutiny.
