Milan's comeback was sparked by the introduction of Christian Pulisic in the 59th minute, who made his season debut for the club. Pulisic stood up a cross from the right for Diego Moreira, who scored his first Serie A goal in the 65th minute. The Argentine then doubled his tally 120 seconds later, drilling in first-time from the edge of the area after Yunus Musah won back the ball in midfield and crossed for Adrien Rabiot to lay off.
The Lazio goal had been coming, with Matteo Cancellieri scoring the opening goal for the Aquile in the 10th minute. Tijjani Noslin then added a second for Lazio in the 39th minute, poking the finish straight at Mike Maignan from a Romano Floriani Mussolini cross.
