Matches will be stopped immediately if fireworks are thrown or shot towards the field or another stand. This new rule comes after recent incidents, including the match between Feyenoord and Cambuur, where supporters threw a lot of fireworks from the away stand towards the field and the Cambuur fans' tribune, injuring seven home fans. The injuries included burns, eye damage, and hearing loss. Feyenoord has banned 47 supporters from the stadium after the incident.
The KNVB's decision aims to prevent further incidents and ensure a safer environment for fans. The police and the Public Prosecution Service will also intensify their efforts to investigate and prosecute the violent and criminal aspects of hard-core groups and ultra-groups.
