Kees Smit has committed to AZ for the long haul, signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until mid-2030. The 20-year-old midfielder, who has been with the club's youth academy since he was a child, has made 84 official appearances for AZ. His previous contract expired in mid-2028.

Smit has been with AZ since he was nine years old, making a contract extension with the club a particularly special moment for him. "I think it's not very common, but here it is," he said. "You have a lot of young players who play here for a long time, but I think it's special and I'm happy about it."
