Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin, 44, has been "absolutely overwhelmed" by the messages of support since his hospital admission. Goodwin was hospitalized at the end of August and required a "simple procedure", which he has now confirmed will be followed by an operation in six weeks. In his place, assistant Lee Sharp took charge of the team, leading them to a 4-0 win away to Kilmarnock. Goodwin has praised the staff and players at Dundee United for their help during his absence.
Goodwin's children have never been used to him being at home in 20 years, so it was a strange period for them as well. However, Goodwin has been able to maintain constant dialogue with the staff and players, and has been able to watch the games and communicate with the bench. He is now looking forward to being back on the sidelines as United visit his former club St Mirren on Saturday.
