The French cécifoot team is affiliated to the French Handisport Federation (FFH), not the French Football Federation (FFF). This is due to a historical reason. The FFH can request the delegation of a discipline from the state every four years. In January, the FFH had its delegation for para-escrime and para-developed prone removed in favour of the valid sports federations, leading to a public denouncement of "institutional ableism". The FFH president, Gaël Rivière, stated that the federation requests the delegation whenever it feels competent on a para-sport. The FFH has been in constant progression and has arguments to say that they work well, especially after the success of the French cécifoot team at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The English cécifoot team, affiliated to the English Federation, had better means than other nations but was still beaten by the French team in the Euro final.
