Kushner, who was set to be the lead investor in the Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) scheme, said he had "failed to appreciate the political dynamics of global football". He added that had they known what the proposal would devolve into, they would not have gotten involved. The FFE scheme aimed to direct more capital and equity equally among Fifa's 211 member associations, but it was abandoned after a huge backlash.
The proposal was part of a $4.2bn (£3.1bn) investment in 20% of a new Fifa commercial subsidiary. Kushner's comments come as Uefa prepares to take legal action against Infantino, with a court in New York set to approve subpoenas for testimony and documents from Kushner and Thrive.
