The clubs are concerned that the restriction on betting advertisements may affect their revenue, with some teams potentially forced to hold events outside of São Paulo to maintain their current advertising agreements. According to Globo Esporte Futebol, the proposal, which could be voted on in the Câmara Municipal de São Paulo next week, may create an imbalance in revenue between teams in São Paulo and those in other states. The meeting brought together 40 people from the marketing, communication, and legal departments of the clubs, as well as executives from five betting companies.
The clubs are worried that the restriction may force them to hold events outside of São Paulo to maintain their current advertising agreements, which total R$ 350 million annually for Corinthians, Palmeiras, and São Paulo. Another concern is that the restriction may create an imbalance in revenue between teams in São Paulo and those in other states, with the Flamengo being cited as an example due to its large contract with a betting company.
