Chelsea and AS Monaco had reached a principle agreement over the transfer of the 22-year-old midfielder on Tuesday, with a reported fee of 55 million euros. However, Monaco pulled the plug on the deal, leaving Chelsea frustrated. Voetbalzone reports that the Londeners found Monaco's handling of the transfer to be very unprofessional.
The transfer was one of two big outgoing deals Monaco wanted to complete on Deadline Day, with Folarin Balogun to Everton being the other. However, the medical check-up for Balogun caused issues, leading Monaco to reopen negotiations with Chelsea over Camara. Despite reaching an agreement, Monaco ultimately decided to stick with Camara and pursue the transfer of Balogun to Everton instead.
