Barcelona's sporting director Deco has explained the decision to sign Gordon over Rashford, stating that the 25-year-old England international fits the team's style of play better. Deco highlighted Gordon's energy as a key factor in the club's decision to sign him, saying that the team needed more intensity after struggling with Raphinha's departure last season.

Gordon has laid on five assists in his first five games for the club and has been well received by supporters, who chanted his name during a recent 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano. The club had analysed a number of wingers before deciding to bring Gordon to Barcelona, with Deco stating that they had a clear idea of what they were looking for.

Barcelona won LaLiga and the Spanish Supercopa last season, with Rashford scoring 14 goals for the club. However, the Spanish champions opted against taking up a €30 million option to make Rashford's deal permanent. Instead, they signed Gordon from Newcastle United for €70m.
