Wrexham powered to their first Championship win this season with a ruthless 3-0 rout of injury-plagued Millwall on Wednesday. The Welsh side had drawn with Cardiff and Watford before losing at home to Birmingham prior to this match. But they bounced back in emphatic fashion in south London to kickstart their bid for promotion to the Premier League after narrowly missing out on the playoffs last term.

The Millwall defender Zak Sturge deflected Issa Kaboré’s cross into his own net for a first-half own goal. Wrexham’s striker Kieffer Moore lashed in the second from 20 yards soon after half-time and Jacques Ekomié wrapped up the victory with a close-range finish. After starting with two clean sheets in victories over Bristol City and Norwich, it is now eight goals conceded in two games for Millwall, who were thrashed 5-1 by Southampton on Saturday.
