Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Mats Wieffer has been sidelined for a few weeks due to a knee injury, Voetbal International reports. The injury occurred when Wieffer was struck in the face by a ball during a match, which may seem like an unusual cause for a knee problem. Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler has explained the situation, saying: "I can explain it quite easily because I love boxing." Hürzeler compared Wieffer's injury to a boxer who is knocked out and then has their legs go limp, causing them to fall into an awkward position.
Hürzeler reassured that the injury is not serious, but the circumstances of how it occurred are unfortunate. Wieffer is expected to return to action in late September.
