A couple was attacked outside the stadium after the match, with the woman, a local councillor from Rillieux-la-Pape, reporting on Facebook that they were subjected to racist insults from Lyon supporters before being beaten. Just before the match, two other people, including a 17-year-old boy, were also assaulted. The boy's mother told Le Progrès that he was with friends when a group of around 30 people, some of whom were masked, shouted racist abuse at them and then attacked them.

The authorities have confirmed that two separate investigations have been launched into the incidents, with the prosecutor's office opening two penal inquiries for aggravated violence resulting in a total incapacity to work for more than eight days. The police presence will be significantly increased around the stadium on Friday evening ahead of the match between Lyon and Auxerre, which will be broadcast live on Ligue 1+.
