Romeo Vermant is not satisfied with his current role at Club Brugge, where he mainly comes off the bench due to Nicolò Tresoldi's promotion to first choice striker. Vermant initially accepted his reduced role, but now wants to leave for a club where he can start every week. Strasbourg offered him that possibility, making their interest increasingly concrete and eventually willing to go to great lengths. The total offer, including various components, would have been around €20 million.
The decision fell badly with Vermant, who felt so misunderstood that he skipped two group training sessions. This was unusual, as Vermant was previously described as exemplary within the club. Despite this, Vermant still wants to leave Club Brugge to get more playing time, but knows that the Belgian top club has almost closed the door on his transfer.
