The UEFA's reaction comes in response to a letter sent by FIFA president Gianni Infantino to all 211 FIFA member associations. In the letter, Infantino proposed an independent external investigation into the FIFA Council's governance structure. However, the UEFA has stated that trust in FIFA has not been restored. According to Ceferin, the three pillars of trust in football - unity, transparency, and a leadership that serves the many, not the few - have been breached by individuals who had sworn to protect them.
The KNVB also reacted to Infantino's letter, stating that the proposed actions seem to be in line with their call for reforms within FIFA. However, they emphasized that the trust has not been restored and that fundamental reforms and new leadership are necessary at FIFA. Ceferin is convinced that the upcoming top will further convey the message that football is not for sale.
