Nigel de Jong has reacted to Oufkir's decision, stating that the KNVB had recognised his talent and potential early on and had done everything to keep him. De Jong also acknowledged that it can be difficult for players with dual nationality to choose between two countries. "We understand that it's a matter of feelings and a personal choice," he said. "We would have liked it otherwise, but we respect this decision."

Oufkir's decision to choose Morocco over Jong Oranje is a significant blow to the Dutch youth selection, which will now have to look for other players to fill the gap left by the Moroccan winger.
