Henry's words of encouragement to players come as Fifa faces scrutiny from some confederations and fans. The former forward turned pundit believes that players shouldn't underestimate their ability to change how football works. He stated, "For me, the players have more power than they think they have. And if they want it to change, they can make it happen – especially nowadays."
Henry's comments are in line with his previous statements, where he highlighted the influence players have in the sport. He pointed out that in the US, leagues listen to players when they want to make a change. "You guys in the US know fully well: when the player wants to do something, the league listens. You saw it with the NBA. You saw it with the NFL … At one point, the players are always on the side: go entertain, take your money, leave."
The next vote for Fifa president is scheduled for 18 March 2027, with no alternative candidate having declared their candidacy.
