A total of 160 Serie A players will be involved with their senior national teams over the next few weeks, according to Football Italia. The list includes a Spain call-up for Inter's Josep Martinez, a return to the Brazil squad for Douglas Luiz and a potential first Argentina cap for Santiago Castro.
Josep Martinez, who has replaced Yann Sommer as Inter's first-choice goalkeeper this season, has been called up to the Spain squad. The 28-year-old made his debut in a Spain side that featured mostly U21 players for an international friendly against Lithuania in June 2021. Martinez is expected to be the third-choice goalkeeper behind Unai Simon and David Raya.
Mandela Keita, a 24-year-old midfielder for Parma, has also been called up to the Belgium squad. Keita has one Belgium cap to his name, but that came two years ago, prior to his move to Serie A from Royal Antwerp. He will now compete with the likes of Youri Tielemans, Romeo Lavia and Nicolas Raskin for game time under new head coach Mark van Bommel.
Santiago Castro, a striker for Roma, has been included in the latest Argentina squad. This is Castro's first call-up to Lionel Scaloni's side, and what an honour it will be to be included in Lionel Messi's final ever national team camp.
