Van Boekel concluded that, based on his analysis, no body part was extended and he saw no elbow. However, Van Meenen believes that the referee should have looked at the entire moment, not just a part of the action. "I can understand that, but we also told him: look again at the entire moment," he said. "From a greater distance, we think you'll see that it's a hazardous situation for Bouwman."
Van Meenen also suggested that the referee may have made the wrong decision because he looked at the screen, but not the entire action. "However, if the referee at that moment believes it's an unfortunate situation, and the VAR confirms that image without providing additional arguments, then I can understand why he thinks: I don't need to look at it again," he said.
