The red card was given by Joey Kooij in the 22nd minute of the match against SC Cambuur for an infringement on Billy van Duijl. Thórisson attempted to win the ball with a sliding tackle but missed it and made light contact with Van Duijl's knee. The moment was not reviewed by the VAR.
The disciplinary committee has now concluded that there was not enough evidence to prove that Thórisson committed a serious foul play or an offence that warrants a red card. Telstar has announced this decision on their website, stating that the committee found that "on the basis of the available information, it cannot be established that there was serious foul play or an offence that justifies a direct red card."
As a result, Thórisson can play against FC Twente on Wednesday.
