On July 28, the Madrid government suspended Rayo Vallecano's concession to use the Estadio de Vallecas, citing alleged safety deficiencies. The suspension was based on an audit report dated July 14, 2026, according to the government's official version. However, Rayo Vallecano claims that the report was actually created on December 12, 2025, and was only presented as a PDF signed in July. The club says that the properties of the file, which it reproduces in an annex, identify the original Word document under the reference "251212", clearly alluding to that December date.
The club also disputes the audit's findings, providing its own documentation to refute each of the alleged deficiencies. Rayo Vallecano highlights that in the last ten years of President Raúl Martín Presa's presidency, the club has held more than 200 matches in Vallecas "without any incidents of safety, accessibility, and hygiene for anyone." The club reconstructs the administrative movements following the suspension, doing so with a sense of suspicion.
Rayo Vallecano believes that the real reason for the dispute lies in June 2026, when the Madrid government allegedly proposed that the club assume a major renovation of the stadium, valued at over 60 million euros, to continue as the concession holder. Alternatively, the club would have to face the extinction of the concession, which is valid until 2039 and can be extended until 2049.
