Shankland, who signed from Hearts in May, limped off after just eight minutes at Ibrox, with his replacement Ryan Naderi scoring the only goal of the game shortly after. The Scotland striker has scored four goals in his first 10 Rangers appearances, but will now miss several weeks in a blow to McInnes.

"It looks quite significant, to be honest," McInnes said, as quoted by BBC Football. The injury is similar to one Shankland suffered at Hearts last January, which kept him out for a period of time.

The Rangers manager has confirmed that a scan will be done on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury.
