PSV has completed the signing of Sam Lammers, a 29-year-old striker who previously played for the club's youth academy and made his debut in the first team in 2016. Lammers left PSV in 2020 to join Atalanta Bergamo, before playing for several clubs in the Netherlands and abroad, including Eintracht Frankfurt, Empoli, Sampdoria, and Rangers FC. He returned to the Netherlands in 2024 and joined FC Twente, where he was reportedly plagued by injury problems and relegated to third choice striker behind Wout Weghorst and Lucas Vennegoor.
According to VoetbalPrimeur, PSV was in need of a new striker due to Alassane Pléa's recurring injury issues. Lammers is expected to become the third choice striker in the team, behind the fit players. The transfer was confirmed by PSV's technical director Earnest Stewart, who stated that Lammers was the top choice for the position due to his experience, knowledge of the club, and goal-scoring record.
