According to reports, the judicial recovery process of Portuguesa is at risk due to the club's failure to present a certificate of federal debt. This certificate is crucial for the judge to decide on the homologation of the judicial recovery. The Lusa previously managed to lift the injunctions that had suspended the process, with judge Tainá Maria Leonardo de Oliveira taking over the judicial recovery process.

The judicial recovery would reduce the club's debt with creditors from R$ 550 million to R$ 200 million and reorganise it into a decade-long payment plan. However, the presentation of the certificate of federal debt has not yet been made, which may delay the judge's decision. The project for the new Canindé stadium depends on the passage of a bill and the purchase of the land from the São Paulo municipality.

The SAF will face another year in the Série D in 2027. The judicial recovery is essential for the club to compete in championships that pay a minimum amount. The judge will determine the payment schedule, and the Lusa may be forced to start paying the debt instalments immediately.
