Globo Esporte Futebol reports that Giménez suffered a traumatic injury to his right shoulder during Platense's Copa Argentina match against Instituto on the 27th of last month. The Argentine club has stated that the player is awaiting further examination in Buenos Aires.
Globo Esporte Futebol also notes that, if the initial diagnosis is confirmed, Giménez's chances of playing in the first leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals are slim. This is because the average recovery time for a shoulder trauma is around two weeks.
In more severe cases, such as dislocation or fracture, recovery can take up to six weeks and may require surgery, which would also rule Giménez out for the return leg.
