Mendy had played six games for Real Betis and 28 games for Rayo Vallecano, but his lack of experience made it difficult for PSV to obtain a work permit.

Rayo Vallecano's Profit

Rayo Vallecano, who had acquired Mendy on loan from Real Betis, have made a significant profit from the sale. The Spanish club had signed Mendy for £3.5 million and will now receive £22 million for his transfer. Real Betis, who retain a 20% stake in Mendy's transfer value, will also benefit from the sale.

Sell-On Clause for Rayo Vallecano

In addition to the £22 million transfer fee, Rayo Vallecano have also secured a 12.5% sell-on clause for Mendy's future transfers. This means that if Mendy is sold again in the future, Rayo Vallecano will receive a percentage of the transfer fee.
