Gilmour's goal, which came from a rehearsed movement, was a highlight of the match, with the Scottish midfielder arriving unmarked to guide a volley into the bottom corner from Matteo Politano's corner. The celebration that followed was also notable, with Gilmour and much of the squad running to the touchline to thank Max Allegri's assistant, Marco Landucci.
Gilmour himself revealed that the team had worked on the celebration in training, and it paid off. He also expressed his disappointment that Napoli could not find a second goal, despite David de Gea's string of saves. "We could've scored a lot more," Gilmour said.
