Naohiro Takahara arrived at Boca in 2001, at the age of 22, as a forward for the Japanese national team and after impressing in Júbilo Iwata, according to Olé. However, his stint at Boca was short-lived, with Takahara playing just seven official matches and scoring one goal. After leaving Boca, Takahara returned to Japan and went on to become a champion and top scorer in the J-League in 2002, scoring 26 goals in 27 games.
Takahara later moved to Germany, playing for Hamburgo and Eintracht Frankfurt, among other clubs, and was a member of the Japanese national team at the 2006 World Cup. In 2015, he founded the Okinawa SV, a club inspired by his experiences in Boca and Hamburg. Takahara was involved in various roles at the club, including president, coach, captain, and player, before eventually retiring as a player at the age of 44.
Now, Takahara has turned his attention to coffee production, with his company, Takahara Selections, offering its products during the matches of Okinawa SV. The coffee is grown in Okinawa, where Takahara faces challenges such as intense sunlight, heavy rainfall, and typhoons. Despite these challenges, Takahara is committed to producing high-quality coffee, with the goal of having the coffee mature without issues until harvest time.
