Rick Kruys, a 41-year-old coach with experience in the Eredivisie, has been appointed as the new head coach of NAC Breda. Kruys was previously in charge at FC Volendam, where he was let go after the team was relegated from the top division last summer. NAC Breda also suffered relegation last season under Hoefkens, and the club hopes that Kruys can help them bounce back up the divisions.
According to NAC's technical director Peter Maas, the club was immediately drawn to Kruys due to his experience in competing for prizes in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. "He knows what it's like to compete for prizes in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie," Maas said. "He understands our clear ambition and is eager to get started." Kruys himself expressed his pride at taking on the role at NAC, stating that the club is a good fit for him.
Kruys has a wealth of experience in the Dutch football scene, having coached VVV-Venlo and FC Utrecht in the past. As a player, he represented FC Utrecht, FC Volendam, Excelsior, and Malmö FF in Sweden. NAC Breda will look to Kruys to help them climb the divisions, starting with their upcoming match against Jong FC Utrecht on Friday.
