Polanski's contract was set to expire in 2028, but the club has decided to part ways with him immediately. His assistant coach, Tobias Trulsen, has also been dismissed. According to Rouven Schröder, Mönchengladbach's director of sports, the team's recent performances have led to the conclusion that a change was necessary.
Jan-Moritz Lichte, a 46-year-old former coach of Mayence, will take over as interim coach. Lichte's task will be to turn around the team's fortunes and get Mönchengladbach out of the relegation zone.
