The 22-year-old Belgian winger has previously played in Serie A, making 23 appearances and scoring three goals with four assists. Mbangula, who can play on the left wing, right wing, or as a trequartista behind the striker, has a history in Italian football, having joined Juventus' youth academy in 2020. He was sold to Werder Bremen last summer for €10m plus bonus, but is now back in the Peninsula.

Bologna have paid €2m for the one-season loan, with an option to make it permanent at the end of this term for another €12m. This deal was done in order to allow Jonathan Rowe to complete his transfer to Atalanta for a total figure of around €40m including add-ons.
